Welcome Back!

Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year! We know that this will be a year unlike any other. Last Friday, the Superintendent announced that all Alhambra Unified Schools will start the year in Distance Learning. Even though we are disappointed that we will not be able to see students in person, we understand that the health and safety of students and staff is the top priority. We have spent the summer months planning for all possible scenarios and are confident that students will receive robust instruction during Distance Learning. Please take note of the dates in the attached email as we prepare for the first day of school on August 12th. Information will also be posted on our school website. We are looking forward to a healthy and successful year, no matter the circumstances. MKHS is a resilient community and together we will navigate this extraordinary experience and come out stronger.

Please be reminded that if your ID number is on the attached list (click title to view), we still have some items from your student’s locker. All locker items need to be picked up by July 24th or they will be disposed of after the 24th. Please follow these directions for picking up items:
Call the Business and Activities before you come to the school. (626) 943-6720
Drive to the front of the school and call the office again when you arrive and someone will come out with your items.

Senior Activities Update

Senior students and families, In this very atypical year, we appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through the logistics of celebrating our seniors while adhering to the Los Angeles County Safer at Home Order and other Department of Public Health guidelines. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide a traditional in-person graduation ceremony this year due to the restrictions on group gatherings. Furthermore, LA County Department of Health has issued new guidelines placing a ban on drive through graduations and parades as well. With these restrictions in mind and with input from various stakeholders, we have determined that our best option to honor our seniors will be a professionally produced virtual graduation. The prerecorded ceremony will honor every senior by name and photo and include our traditional speeches. Please see the chart included in the letter that has been sent to your email and click on this link for list specific dates and activities .
Thank you for your continued patience during these trying times. We appreciate your support as we do everything we can to honor our seniors.

Update: Distance Learning Grading

AUSD Board of Education adopted a new resolution last night regarding grading during school closures. Please view Superintendent Jaramillo’s letter and the resolution for more details. You can also visit the AUSD website for more information on school closures and Distance Learning.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Based on guidance we have received from California State Governor Gavin Newsom, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, Los Angeles County Office of Education Superintendent Dr. Debra Durado, and other local government representatives, Alhambra Unified has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel senior activities for the 2019-2020 school year. Please take a moment to review the letter in your email or click on the link above. Thank you and we hope you continue to be safe.

Congratulations Graduates of 2020
