Principal's Message

July 23, 2020

Dear MKHS Students and Families,

Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year! We know that this will be a year unlike any other. Last Friday, the Superintendent announced that all Alhambra Unified Schools will start the year in Distance Learning. Even though we are disappointed that we will not be able to see students in person, we understand that the health and safety of students and staff is the top priority. We have spent the summer months planning for all possible scenarios and are confident that students will receive robust instruction during Distance Learning. Please take note of the following dates as we prepare for the first day of school on August 12th:

July 27th

Student schedules will be released for viewing on Powerschool

July 28th - August 5th

Counselors will conduct virtual meetings with students needing schedule assistance

(detailed information will be sent out shortly from the Office of School Counseling)

August 3rd - 11th

Textbook distribution

(detailed schedule will be sent out and posted on our website)

August 12th

First day of school

In the coming days we will be sending you detailed information regarding the start of school. The updates will include specifics on the release of class schedules, textbook distribution, and the revised bell schedule. Communications will be sent through Blackboard Connect and will also be available on our school website.

In the meantime, if you have questions regarding enrollment and student schedules please contact the Office of School Counseling at 943-6730 or email Assistant Principal Marisol Sanders at For questions regarding textbooks please contact the Office of Business and Activities at 943-6720 or email Assistant Principal Alejandra Perez at

We are looking forward to a healthy and successful year, no matter the circumstances. MKHS is a resilient community and together we will navigate this extraordinary experience and come out stronger.

Take care,

Jeannie Gutierrez - Principal
