Summer update: 7/15

Hi, this is Mr. Scanlan, Principal at Mark Keppel High School. I hope you are having a terrific summer. Here are a few announcements:

-Remember that school starts on Thursday, August 11th.

-We will be holding two parent meetings this summer. The first meeting will be held August 1st at 6:30pm for all returning Mark Keppel families. We will be giving information about the upcoming year as well as a look at what to expect for the rest of your child’s high school career.

-Our second meeting will be for incoming 9th grade families on Thursday, August 4th at 6:30pm. We will be discussing your child’s 9th grade year as well as information about what to expect the next 4 years.

-We are excited to be offering some new elective courses at Mark Keppel this year! We will have the following classes available: Medical Terminology, Child Development and Fashion. If you are interested in any of these classes, please email Dr. Meyka or Dr. Prentice. Their email addresses can be found on our website

-Just a reminder:  We will not be doing Priority Processing this year during the summer.  Incoming 9th graders received an enrollment packet at their elementary school.  Current students were given a large white envelope with registration materials in May and were to return them before the end of school.   If you have not yet turned in your enrollment or registration materials for the 16-17 school year, please bring them to the School Counseling office ASAP.  Summer hours for the office are:  Mon-Thurs, 7:30am - 11:30am, and 1pm -2:30pm.

Very important!  All students must also submit a current, original Gas or Electric bill to the Counseling office in July to finalize their registration for next year.

-Practice for Football season has begun. If you are interested in joining the football team, please contact Coach Tuttle via email. His email address is available at our website
