Email Reply

Read the email that I wrote you below and respond to it in a Google Doc that you submit in this folder. Reply in a formal (usted) register, answer my questions, and follow up with at least one question for me. Write in the past preterite tense and the present tense as appropriate. Finally, don’t forget to include a greeting, closing, and signature in your email.

Querido(a) estudiante,

Saludos,

Cecilia Alexander

Oral Conversation in Google Classroom

Oral Conversation

For homework, look at the "Preguntas personales" at the beginning of each chapter in this unit: U1E1 on p. 31, U1E2 on p. 53, and U1E3 on p. 75. These are all questions that you have already answered and we have corrected one by one in class. Choose 1-2 questions from each chapter, for a total of 5 questions and record yourself answering them orally to tell me about yourself.

Do not tell me which questions you are answering, but instead answer the questions in complete sentences that rephrase the question in a way that makes the conversation flow. In the same manner, do not pause after each question, I want to be hearing a part of a natural conversation that you are having. You might want to imagine that you are having a conversation with someone that you just met and they said something along the lines of "tell me about yourself."

Take a look at the attached rubric. You will be graded on having provided the required information, your use of vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation, intonation and pacing. Notice that in order to receive full credit on "required information," you need to provide frequent elaboration. While there are no time limits, I would say that approximately 1:15 - 2 minutes (about 15 - 22 seconds per question) would be appropriate.

Make sure that I will be able to hear your recording through Google Drive/Classroom and attach it to this folder. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yo en el presente

Using the review questions from Spanish 1/2 as a starting point, and making sure to check for corrections I made to your paper, write an essay about yourself in the present. Fill a page with your essay and a picture of yourself in the present.

Then next semester, you'll write about yourself in the past. That way, you'll have essays about yourself in the past and present in Spanish. (I'm sure that excites me more than it does you.)

If you need an example, I have included mine, but be sure not to copy it, this is about you, not me.
