Please fill in the form in attachment about books and calculators return, if you have not done so yet (even if you have already taken or won't take then exam). I posted the form on the stream, but, since I forgot to remind you about that in class, I figured I am going to post it here as well as an ungraded assignment.
Hello everyone.
Ms. Miller would like a list of those of you who will need to keep their textbooks (and calculators if you are borrowing one from he school) until after their AP exam in June. I am sharing a google form.
Of course if you already took the exam, you won't need to keep anything, but I'd still like you to fill in this form.
PS: If you are also in my AP Calc BC class, I will ask you to fill in another form for that class as well.

GoFormative "Inference Exercises" solve all exercises and upload a picture of them (or you can type your answer on GoFormative directly). You should have already uploaded 1-5.
Due:
A) GoFormative "Inference Exercises" solve # 1,2,3,4 and 5 and upload a picture of them (or you can type your answer on GoFormative directly). You do not need to click "submit"; I can see what you uploaded. B) Get ready for quiz #4. A good way to practice is to go over all exercises on GoFormative and for each decide what test (or tests) you could use. Alternatively, choose some exercises from chapters 9-12 that require the use of a significance test, and decide what test to use.
Due:
Solve the free response part of the cumulative AP practice test 4, exercises # 4.41 to 4.46 (p. 808 to p. 811) Optional: work on the multiple choice part as well
Due:
Go on GoFormative and complete the "AP Practice problems (Chi-square)" . Then mark this assignment as done.
Due:
IMPORTANT!! Here is a survey where you will make a choice about your AP Exam. I will talk about this today in class, so do not rush filling in the survey. Do that this afternoon, after discussing with your family a well. For Stats there are essentially three options: A) At school, pencil and paper (like old times) on May 17th B) Digital, online on June 10th (notice this is after school ends). Please review the guidelines for digital format before you make this choice. (It's not going to be like last year!) C) Cancel your exam. MrG

A) Solve exercise # p 413 # 99 B) Use the formula that you created in class to do the following: 1) Generate 5 numbers from 1 to 621 and estimate N using your formula. Plot the estimate in a dotplot. 2) Repeat at least 20 times. Describe the dotplot, especially paying attention to bias and variability. How "good" is your formula? (That is, how well does it estimate the true population maximum?)

QUIZ #6 Go on GoFormative after 12.30pm today (just in case, here is the code again: FMRHM8). You will see a quiz called "AP Statistics Quiz 6 12/10/20". That is your quiz. Please read carefully the following: As soon as you start the quiz you will have 60 minutes to complete it. It is all multiple choice and you DO NOT have to show work. At the end of the 60 minutes (or at exactly 11.55pm, whichever comes first), the quiz will close, so you need to complete everything in that time frame. However, you can start the quiz any time between 12.30pm and 11.55pm. Make sure that you give yourself enough time. You are allowed: Textbook, notes, graphing calculators, formula and tables sheet. You are NOT allowed: Internet websites, any other form of help, including help from other people. BE ACADEMICALLY HONEST!! Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway): YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DISCUSS THIS QUIZ WITH ANYONE, even after the quiz has been submitted!! Have fun with your quiz!!
Due:
Note: This assignment is due Monday 12/7/20 because you already have a project due on Thursday. However try to work on these exercises as soon as you can, because you will likely receive more homework on Thursday that will be also due Monday.

LEADERS: as many of you pointed out, if you submit the google doc in Classroom, you no longer have access to it.
Instead, after you created the doc, share it with me ([email protected]).

Due:
Exercises p. 279 # T4.1 -T 4.13 + p. 303 # 25 Review for quiz: Multiple choice, possibly cumulative, but mostly on chapter 4 and 5.1.
Due:
Exercise: My car's battery is completely depleted and I ask people (randomly chosen) if they can help. Only one in six people can help (and will, so there is a probability of 1/6 to find help). Design a simulation (and conduct it several times) to find the expected number of people that I need to ask until I find help.
Due:
Find a quiet place where you can spend about 30 minutes (no phones, no distractions). Then work on the two exercises. Show all work and make sure you explain your reasoning. For example, a diagram will not be sufficient to explain an experimental design, you also need to explain your reasoning in a paragraph. On the other hand, If you write more than the space provided, you are probably writing too much.
Tomorrow (Tuesday), if you are able and want to, I will be on zoom for Office Hours and I will go over the scoring guidelines. If you attend, please make sure that you solved the exercises.

Then: X) Study p. 209-213 Y) Solve exercises p. 229 # 1-9 odd Z) Suppose you want to know how MKHS students feel about Distance Learning, and you want to survey them. Describe two BAD (=BIASED) sampling methods that you could use (describe means to explain what you would be doing, not just mention the name of the methods). Of course, DO NOT conduct the sampling.
This work is due Thursday at the end of the day, in case you have questions about the topics.
Due:
Correction: the worksheet says that the exercises are on page 194, but the pages are actually 197-198.
Due:
Please complete the following worksheet, to understand what r-squared really is. We will go over the worksheet next Thursday.
Due:
To turn in: Solve exercises p. 193 # 43-48 For fun: try to complete the worksheet below that illustrates how to derive the equation of the Regression Line. No need to turn in this assignment, but it's good math review!

Hello everyone. I would like to have an "official" list of those of you who have reasons that prevent them from keeping their video on during class time. As I mentioned, if you do have problems keeping your video on, I would like to contact home and work with your parents/guardians to find alternative ways, for example, to assess your knowledge other than a "class quiz" where I cannot see you working, or other difficulties that might occur. Please let me know by filling in this form by Wednesday. If you are taking two classes with me, select all the classes that you are taking (you will be allowed to submit the form only once). In this case you can disregard the assignment listed for the "other" class. Thanks, MrG
Due:
A) Solve exercise #4 on the Describing and Comparing distribution worksheet B) Solve exercises p. 44 # 55,57,59,63,65 C) Watch video about Boxplots (link below)
Due:
A) Watch the two videos in the links below (stemplots and histograms). B) Describe the distribution of the numerical variable that you collected from the list of mathematicians C) Complete exercises 1,2 and 3 from the worksheet in attachment (Describing and comparing distributions in context) You may use software for the graphical display if you want to.
Due:
Try your best in solving the exercises, then take a picture and submit it in a google doc, like last time. If you have trouble inserting the picture in a google doc, you can also send the picture directly or scan the paper and send it as pdf.
Due:
1) Complete the "Motivating SOCS" worksheet (in attachment) 2) Consider the population of all famous mathematicians (for a list you can follow the link below). Decide on two variables, one categorical and the other numerical discrete (try to be original!). Then, randomly select 30 mathematicians and from each collect a value for each variable. Then do the following: A) Very briefly explain how you chose the mathematicians (we have not talked about random samples yet, so do what you think will give you a fair random sample of people) B) Show a graphical display both distributions: for the categorical, choose your favorite, for the numerical use a dotplot. You can use technology to draw the graphs (or not, your choice) C) (optional) If you feel brave enough, describe the numerical distribution in context (Shape, Center, Spread and Outliers). However, you will work on this part (C) during class time next Monday, after we will have gone over some more examples.
Due:
There is no need to copy or print the worksheet. Answer in your own paper.
When finished, submit a google doc with a picture of your work. Make sure that you write your name before you take the picture.

Due:
Please fill in this form (by Friday) to confirm that you and your parents/guardians read the syllabus for this class.
