Hello Advanced Students....I don't 5th period yesterday that you did not have to do this assignment, but as Mr. Gillette and I talked yesterday we realized it has been a year since you did any set work. So, we DO want you to complete this assignment.
You will need to create TWO drawings of a room in your home...any room you choose. One drawing will be the GROUND PLAN with all set pieces, etc. and one drawing will be the FRONT VIEW of one of the walls in your ground plan...but make it an interesting wall with a piece of furniture or structure of crown molding, a window, etc. DO THE GROUND PLAN FIRST. Also, remember that these drawings must be drawn in 1/2" or 1/4" scale. I am posting Mr. Gillette's lecture from yesterday in case you need to refer to it. Toward the end of the lecture he really explains the assignment. Please email Mr. Gillette with any questions. Remember...when you draw the Front View, you will not need to draw in perspective. Thank you!

Find the errors on the lighting plot that is attached. There are three errors. When you find them, use the chart to explain what the error is. Then explain where the error is on the plot. To do that, explain what lighting position it is (eg Electric 1, House Right Tree, etc) and the light number (the number on the fixture icon). Then explain why this error would cause a problem for lighting a show.
Due:
Fill out one section per person in their presentation
Due:
1. You are going to turn in your light plot for the scene you chose from the fairy tale you chose. You are lighting the same scene that you chose to use for your morgue. Let your morgue guide your lighting. If you do your light plot in LX Free, make sure to export it as a jpg to turn in. If you do your plot by hand, take a very clear photo and submit that.
2. You are also going to be doing a lighting lab, which I explained in class today. You will need to take a picture of your finished lighting lab scene and upload it here. If you wish, you can take a screen shot of the light lab and submit that.

Please upload you lighting morgue here.
Attached is an example of a lighting morgue that someone created. They were doing their morgue for a different reason than you and they were designing multiple scenes. You are only doing one scene from your selected fairytale, so you will not need this many slides. Also, she didn't need to do a description of her designs as they had already been approved. You don't need to write a lot, but you do need to justify your choices. I'm posting this example so you see how to put together a lighting morgue.

If you wish to use the film we are posting, that is fine, just use one minute of it. But, you can create your own animated or short film, or find a 1 minute short film online that you want to use. If you use an already created film, BE SURE YOU STRIP THE SOUND FROM THAT FILM FIRST AND THEN CREATE YOUR OWN SOUND TO ADD TO IT. HAVE FUN!!

Hey all....here is your SOUNDSCAPE assignment which is due at the beginning of class on Thursday for period 5, and Friday for period 7. Period 7, I will explain this in class tomorrow.
ASSIGNMENT: Please create an original image (draw a picture or create one with a computer program) or find an image online for which you can create a SOUNDSCAPE. Remember: a SOUNDSCAPE is the sound which is created for a particular environment. Ultimately, the sound starts to tell a story that goes along with the image. For example (and in the example below), if you draw a picture of a beach scene, you would expect to hear sounds of waves crashing, children laughing, seagulls screeching, lifeguard whistles, etc. Your SOUNDSCAPE only needs to be about 45 seconds long. We will share these during our next class meeting.
I have also included the SOUNDSCAPE we heard in class.
Thank you!
