Please check your child’s grade on-line regularly. Grades are usually posted the day after the quiz or test. Please communicate all concerns with me through email or with your child’s counselor. Tutoring is available before school, during lunch and after school on Thursdays. Students will also be meeting with their group 4 hours a week.              

Calculus AB AP Exam will be on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Study sessions have been reserved on the following Fridays: March 14, 28, April 4, 11, 18, 25 and May 2, from 3:00 - 8:00 pm. Please do everything possible to enable your child to attend every study sessions.

Barron’s “How to Prepare for the AP Advanced Placement Exam Calculus” is recommended, but not required. Students also need to have access to a computer for their homework starting in March.

Parental help might be needed for transporting food on Fridays before our study sessions, picking up the food and delivering it to us around 2:45 pm. We might also need help in our FoCus Club fundraising events. Please let me know if you are available to help us.

We will cover many basic concepts of calculus, including the following topics:

- Limits and Their Properties

- Differentiation

- Applications of Differentiation

- Integration

- Transcendental Functions

- Application of Integration (Area and volume)

Grade consists of: Quizzes 25%, Chapter Tests 40%, Homework 10%, and Final 25%.

Grading scale for a math AP class is as follows:

A for 90-100%, B for 80-89.9%, C for 70-79.9%, D for 65-69.9%, F for below 65%.

When we review for the AP exam, starting around the beginning of March, grades will be “frozen” after the last chapter test. Meaning that none of the AP review work will be counted towards the academic grade for this class. After the exam, there will be projects and a final, that will be graded and counted.
