SEI 3/4 Assignments

Use the returned and graded assignments to study for the Thoughts and Notion test. It will focus on the chapters about umbrellas and the metric system. 

 

If you have not finished doing so, please finish writing your ending to the Halloween Story assignment.
* Check your grammar and make sure you are using first-person voice

Extra Credit for anyone who dresses up for Halloween tomorrow.

Focus on Grammar Unit 5:
page 35 Ex. 1 and 2.
page 36 Ex. 3 and 4.
page 37 Ex. 6

1. study for the test on Monday on Unit 3 Cluster 1 (first 2 stories of the unit)
2. Watch a TV show or movie in ENGLISH. Make sure you know the NAME of the show in ENGLISH and WHAT it is about.
3. Workbook pages 92-93 (? I can't remember the exact numbers). It's the two pages of vocabulary for the next Unit 3, Cluster 2 in your workbook.

Finish reading the Freaky Food article and finish #3 on page 87 AND the Selection Review on page 88.

Be ready to present your travel brochure tomorrow. Make sure it is interesting and think about how other students will react to your brochure.

This is a very important piece of homework:
Make sure you go to the Career Center during lunch or after school to use the computer or get on the internet at home and finish:
1. Research for your city.
2. Analyze a brochure on my web site.
3. Print picture(s) or map you need for your job.

Make sure you bring a picture of the city or state your group decided to work on for the travel brochure we will create this week.

You may use magazines, newspapers or print from the internet.

EVERYONE in the group needs to bring AT LEAST one picture.

Karaoke Circle #1 due: period 2, 5 and 6.

You should have the lyrics of your song memorized and be able to explain the main idea or message of the song.

Grammar packet on adjectives before nouns, all three pages.

Remember, Karaoke Circle is tomorrow! Make sure you memorize ALL, or most, of your lyrics for the song your group chose in September. Think about how you can dance or act out the meaning of the song!

Make sure you have a photo of the place you are describing. You can either bring a photo cut-out, an advertisement in the newspaper or something you draw.

Next, write detailed description of the place you would like to visit using the following example.
Where would you like to see if you can visit any city or country?

The place I want to visit is most famous for __________ and _____________. Most tourists visit _________________ and ___________________________. They speak ____ language(s): ______. It is _________ hours away from Los Angeles by _____________________. I think I will be amazed by _________. This place is __________ __________.
(Add any more details you can to clearly describe this place)

Make sure you bring a picture from a magazine, newspaper or computer print out of a place you and your partner would like to describe tomorrow. You can be creative and cut out picture of places from food boxes, grocery bags, old packaging, etc.

Vocabulary test tomorrow.

Although we don't have homework to complete for points this weekend, it is a good idea for you to practice English. You can:
1. Practice singing along and understand the lyrics of the song you chose for Karaoke Circle #1.
2. Watch a sports game or English program. You can also listen to the radio in English.
3. Play reading the listening game on Lyricstraining.com

The goal is to practice using English every day.

Make sure you post THREE reviews of your classmates' collage presentations.

LOTS of weekend homework.
1. Collage: MAKE sure you have NO white space on your paper. Cover every space.
2. Finish posting AT LEAST one question to ask for advice AND one answer to your classmate's question.
3. Grammar packet Unit 2-1 (finish the packet)
4. Workbook pages 50-51 (review compound words and suffix)

Now that you have Edmodo access, you can post questions to each other. Make sure it is useful and has a purpose.

Please make sure to bring the following school supplies and materials EVERY DAY:
1. pen (blue or black ink) and pencils with a good eraser.
2. highlighter or colored pens (NOT blue or black).
3. lined papers
4. Binder or folder for worksheets, notices, graded assignments, etc.
5. Textbook for the class
6. A spiral book note for vocabulary and notes.

These are optional BUT highly recommended:
1. tissue
2. Hand sanitizer

Collage about yourself is due.
NO writing on the paper (8 1/2" x 11"). ONLY cut-out from magazines or newspapers.
Left side: show your likes and dislikes.
Right side: your dreams and goals for the future.
Top RIGHT: cut out letters that spell out your name.

Workbook (RED) pages 42 and 43. Vocabulary.
Make sure you write out the answer so we can practice speaking tomorrow.

1. Finish Side by Side chapter 2 packet, except for the listening.

2. Watch an English show or movie and write THREE sentence to tell me what you watched and what happened.
