CLUB RUSH WEEK:
There has been a date change for Club Rush Week. It is now scheduled for September 27th thru October 1st. Thank you, ASB

PTSA is offering the “practice” SAT or ACT exam as well as 8 different SAT II Subject Tests on Saturday, September 11th.  Cost is $10.00 and forms are available at the Student Bank or in the Guidance Office. 

Register and pay at the Student Bank anytime before or after school or you can also pay at the PTSA table in the lunch court by the Student Bank. Subject tests include Math II, Literature, Chemistry, Physics, Biology-Ecological, Biology-Molecular, U.S. History, World History. Space is limited so register ASAP. A limited number of fee waivers are also available through the counselors.

Applications are now available for student parking spaces in the "D" parking lot at the east end of the campus. To get a parking permit, students must fill out an application, provide a valid driver's license, registration, proof of insurance, and pay a $10 fee. Go to the Student Bank for applications. ~Dr. Prentice

The California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP) is designed to help increase college opportunities as well as provide information on financial aid. All students are encouraged to become a part of this program and take advantage of all benefits (such as yearly scholarships, field trips, college planning and UC recognition). For more information or to join, please see your Cal-SOAP advisor, Valerie Ortiz, in the Career Center Monday - Friday or sign the Cal-SOAP call back sheet and I will respond ASAP. If you change your schedule & have textbooks you no longer need, you MUST return those books to the Bookroom IMMEDIATELY. Books for your new classes will not be issued until the books from your old classes are turned in. PLEASE DO NOT TURN IN BOOKS TO YOUR TEACHERS. --M. Miller

Starting Monday, 9/13, all students MUST have a CURRENT MKHS I.D. card in order to check out textbooks. If you didn't have your picture taken during Processing days, you can do so AFTER SCHOOL ONLY at the Student Bank. You need to have a copy of your schedule with you. NO CARD, NO BOOKS, NO FOOLING!--M. Miller

Front Patio Doors By Guidance
Effective today, these doors are now allowed to be used as exits only at the end of 6th period each day. For entrance purposes, students should continue to use the East and West Gates. Late students and visitors will only be allowed to access the campus through the West Gate.

$125 Ticket for Jaywalking
The Alhambra Police Department will be conducting random patrol to issue citations for jaywalking. That’s a $125.00 ticket for illegally crossing the street without using assigned crosswalks. Pedestrians beware! Use the crosswalks at Hellman & Almansor, and Hellman & Rural!

Lunch
On a trial basis, effective today, we are allowing students to use the Aztec Plaza (the area immediately outside the Math Wing, through the Breezeway, but not beyond the ramps) during lunch. Students can access the vending machines outside the gym, but must return to the Palza area after making the purchase, and take care of your lunch trash properly. All buildings remain off limits, with the exception of accessing Guidance, offices, and the Library. Teachers and Club Advisors must issue lunch passes for students to be allowed to enter buildings. - Mr. Douglas, Student Services

TRI-M NATIONAL MUSIC HONOR SOCIETY
First meeting next Tuesday at lunch in C-113. If you are enrolled in a music class that meets at Mark Keppel, you may be eligible to join. For questions, see Dr. Bartlett.

The Math Team is looking for students that are interested in Mathematics and would like to represent Mark Keppel in competitions. We will be having our first meeting this Thursday during lunchtime in Rm A148. Come and find out how to join. Everyone is welcome no matter what is your ability level. Attention Friday Night Live Board Members: There will be a quick meeting this Friday, September 10, 2010, at the very beginning of lunch in Room C-306. Please get here as quickly as you can so that you'll have more than enough time for lunch. Reminder: All students who are working and are under the age of 18 must have a work permit. All work permits that were issued last school year or during the summer have expired. A new work permit is also required if you changed jobs. Return your completed work permit application to Ms. Minch in the Career Center (D106). If you need an application, pick one up today. --Ms. Minch

Attention all Student Aides you can now go to the student bank and get your TA badges. Make sure you have a copy of your of your TA contract or your schedule showing what teacher you are working with. --Mrs. Pena
