Aztec Families: This evening, a situation occurred in the community that led us to go into lockdown at our football game. This was done out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of all of our community members, students and staff. We worked in coordination with Alhambra PD and Monterey Park PD as the situation unfolded. By the time the situation was resolved, the decision was ultimately made to cancel the game to ensure the safety of all of those in attendance.
The work of our staff and the patience of our community members was nothing short of amazing. In a very stressful situation, all of those in attendance remained extremely calm and cooperative. We thank everyone for the extreme patience shown in this situation.
We are constantly examining procedures and protocols to keep our students and community members safe.
Tomorrow night’s Homecoming Dance will continue as planned and we strongly encourage our students to attend. The dance begins at 7pm and ends at 11pm. Although these incidents occurred off campus, we are expanding our security for the dance to ensure everyone feels secure and safe.
Thank you again to our Keppel community for their patience and calm through today’s incidents.
