Writing 2 In Chapter 3, page 19 we learn that the year Okonkwo borrowed seed-yams from another member of the village was the worst year any one could remember. There was too much rain followed by a drought which killed all of his yams. Speaking from Okonkwo’s point of view, how does he feel about the failure of his attempt to start his own farm?

Writing 3 We have all seen that Okonkwo is a harsh man. He is not very kind to his Nwoye because Okonkwo thinks he is not manly enough. He wishes Ikemefuna was his son and hopes that Nwoye becomes more like the youth he is fostering. Based on the knowledge you have of Okonkwo, Nwoye, and Ikemefuna, how does Nwoye feel about his father and the way Okonkwo treats him? Use examples from the text to support your claim.

Writing 5 – A wedding is a joyous event in most cultures, however, it seems that the preparations are mostly the responsibility of the women. Explain in your words, how the women might feel as they prepare the fest for a new bride. How often do they gather together to spend social time? To help each other? Is this perhaps a time they look forward to because they have time to be together without men?

TFA Question 6 While Okonkwo is in exile, he hears that the missionaries have come to his home village and things are rapidly changing. Churches are being built, people are being educated to speak and write in English, villagers are being told that the spirits they worship are not real. Writing from Okonkwo's point of view, how does he view these changes? Does he think he can stop the changes or does he think the villagers need to let the people who want to convert to Christianity do so? How does he now view his son?

TFA Writing 8 Okonkwo lived his entire life afraid that he was being judged by the way his father lived his life instead of being judged on his own merits. On the bottom of page 178, one of Okonkwo's clansmen tells the District Commissioner something about Okonkwo. What does he say about Okonkwo? Do you think Okonkwo knew this is how his clansmen regarded him? If his clansmen had said this to Okonkwo, do you think Okonkwo's outcome would have been different? Explain.
