Policy For Preserving Academic Integrity
Violations of Academic Integrity includes but not limited to any of the following:
§ The use of cheat sheets or other unauthorized aides
§ Roving eyes
§ Opening books or notes during testing
§ Talking during testing
§ Copying each others work/disk/flash drive, etc. in any way
§ Stealing exams
§ Altering a teacher’s grades in any way
§ Forging transcripts, reports cards, or signature
§ Plagiarizing papers or projects
§ Taking exams for someone else
§ Hiring others to write papers/projects
§ Submitting and/or altering the work of another as ones’ own
§ Distributing unauthorized test papers or questions
§ Using bribery or blackmail in the pursuit of better grades
§ Use of an electronic device of any kind in any way for any testing situation
§ Violation of testing conditions in any way
Consequences may include any or a combination of the following depending upon the nature, frequency, and the severity of the incident:
Ø Academic Integrity Contract signed, filed, and kept accumulative
for remaining years at MKHS
Ø Parent/Student /teacher conference
Ø Student receives a zero or “F” on the work involved and
citizenship grade will be lowered.
Ø Documentation placed in student’s Discipline File
Ø Saturday Work
Ø Suspension and /or expulsion
Ø Removal of student from course
Ø May negatively impact admission to college’s and universities, the awards of scholarships or letters of recommendations
Ø Restricted from participation in academic organizations or clubs
Teacher’s Responsibility
P Be proactive and preventative
P Actively/diligently circulate and monitor students during testing
P Ascertain facts and evidence then refer all students involved to Student Services for all incidents
P Teacher and Student Services should communicate to establish if there has been prior violations in order to determine consequences
P Teacher must contact parent and arrange conference.
P Lower student’s academic and citizenship grades according to
policy
