Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year. I especially want to extend a warm welcome to all the students and families who are new to our school community this year. The faculty and staff at Mark Keppel High School are committed to supporting the academic achievement, social development, and the building of character for all students. We believe in teamwork and collaboration; we believe all students can learn; and we know that striving for personal best is a process, not an event.
Mark Keppel High School is a California Distinguished School, and has received Title I Academic Achievement Award and Exemplary Career Technical Education Program Award from the State of California. For four consecutive years, Us News and Newsweek have ranked the school as one of the Best High Schools in America. In addition to these recognitions, the school has a tradition of excellence, including CIF championships, award winning performing arts programs, and one of the top Academic Decathlon programs in Los Angeles County. Our instructional program and our comprehensive Advanced Placement program prepare students for admission to some of the top universities in the country.
Our many successes are attributed to the collective efforts of the faculty, staff, students, and parents. We are fortunate to have two active parent organizations, PTSA and Alliance, who support students and programs with great devotion. We also enjoy a strong partnership with local government, community agencies and businesses that enriches the educational experiences for our students.
Mark Keppel High School is undergoing major construction with projected completion timeline by mid-2010. We are waiting with great anticipation for a fully renovated auditorium, two brand new multi-storied classroom buildings which include science labs and rooms for choir and band, as well as a state-of-the-art gymnasium with 1,200 seating capacity. Construction updates are posted on this website periodically throughout the school year.
